Quick Update!

So I have gotten a lot of flack for being a “blog slacker” lately so I decided I would try to give a QUICK update. I don’t know where we have been the last few months but if you look close in the corners of my house you can see that we haven’t been home. It all started with a great trip to California and ended somewhere after a long string of PTA events.

We took a trip to Vancouver, WA in early February to visit Great-Great Grandma Hackett, which I will post about later.

Had a great time celebrating Valentines Day!

Attended the funeral of the most amazing Matriarch in the world. My Great Grandma Hackett!

Built a Snowman!

Jairo’s sweet mother was diagnosed with breast cancer. She quickly had a mastectomy and has just started her first round of chemotherapy. She is very strong and so far is doing very well but I worry about Jairo. He has been spending a lot of time visiting with her, making sure she is ok. The whole family is really pulling together.

We spent a much needed weekend in Island Park with some of our dear friends.

Thanks Troy and Kristin!

Katelyn did a cute little puppet show for the Gifted and Talented program she has been invited to be involved with the past two years. She gets to go to Mr. Winston one afternoon a week and do fun projects.

Planned a school carnival for the PTA. Thought we might “up” our numbers from last year to 250, but ended up with over 550 people. Crazy, Crazy, Crazy! In fact so crazy that between trying to manage everything, running to the store and Doug’s Meat to get more food several times, I didn’t have time to take any pictures. Anyhow, I am grateful for all of the wonderful help I had from my amazing friends (especially Steph who gave a ton time all the while battling the stomach flu.)

Two days after the carnival I was in charge of a fun little Primary Activity that we did in conjunction with a “Ward Humanitarian Project.”

Later that day Katelyn had her first Piano Festival which I am proud to say she got a “Superior” for both of her pieces. Then that night she had her Piano Recital. She did very well so she and I snuck off for ice cream afterwards.

This week the school counselor ask me if the PTA could help her put together DNA kits for the 1st, 2nd and 3rd graders so the PTA came to the rescue again, fingerprinting and plucking hair from over 400 kids in under 5 hours. The police officer that was in charge was amazed at our skill. We responded with a “Don’t ever underestimate the power of the PTA, we are Mom’s on a mission.” (Although my mission is almost over, next year I am going to sit home and rock my new baby and give the opportunity of being over the Sunrise PTA to some other sweet mom.)

I’m sure I missed a lot but now that things are calming down, the big events are over, no more morning sickness, my family just got over the stomach flu, Birthday season is starting, I don’t want to think about to much or I might start having flashbacks. Just kidding! I hope all is well and we are going to enjoy a relaxing spring break.

Finally some updates. I think the baby deserves it's own post. Since your nearly 4 months now. Just because it's the 4th doesn't make us less excited. Yeah!! Alex & Alyssa can't wait to have a little friend.

Hey Shelly,
I linked over from Sherelle.
Sorry I missed the carnival - it sounds like a huge hit! My sister had her baby (a bit early - 3 lbs. 8 oz.) that night.
Would still like to see about those blasted swimsuits sometime.
