Family Reunion

This year our family reunion was at Downata Hot Springs. We had a great time visiting with our family. The kids had a blast at the swimming pool and Katie and Allie were brave enough to go down the "black hole" water slide. My parents rented a little cabin that had a little loft. The kids had so much fun playing up there with their cousins. My Aunt Kim was in charge of the reunion this year and she did a great job. On Saturday night we had a "Wild Weiner Contest". Everyone was suppose to bring a crazy or great tasting hot dog. I like to participate in this kind of thing but didn't have any special way to make a hot dog so I made a hot dog cake. It turned out really cute and I took 1st place. My Uncle Steve should have won because he brought all sorts of different kinds of hot dogs including one of the biggest "dogs" you have ever seen. My girls had fun decorating a pan of brownies that they made to look like a campfire cake. We had so much fun and enjoyed the time we had with our family. My Grandma and Grandpa Landon are so kind and we are grateful to be a part of their family.

My Mom

If you ever wanted to know why I hold my family in such a high esteem, jump over to my mom’s new blog and read “My New and Old Obsession.” I love my parents so much and I am grateful for their example of unconditional love. My parents spent our whole lives teaching their children that we were each others best friends and to this day there is nowhere I would rather be than “home” with my family. My own children look forward to Sundays at grandma’s house, laughing & playing with their cousins, telling Grandma and Grandpa about their week, talking and joking with my brothers and sisters. There is never enough time or hugs before we have to go. I love my family so dearly. Thanks Mom and Dad, I love you more than words can express.

The Zoo.

Every year we go to Tauphus Park for Jairo's company party. HK provides a catered lunch, snow cones, cotton candy, and gives us tickets for the Zoo and Amusement Park. The kids really enjoy going to the zoo with their dad. The girls love to ride the octopus with Jairo. Allie usually gets a little scared but, this year she was very brave. Ryan thought he was too big for the little rides and wanted to ride the Octopus and Ferris Wheel the whole time. When he would get in the Octopus line I would have to tell him that he was not tall enough but, he kept on trying. We had a great time and look forward to next year!

The Twins are Born!

We are so excited! The twins were born today and everything went very well. The little girl (no names yet) was born first at 1:37pm. She weighed 5lbs 10 oz and was 18 3/4" long. The little boy was born at 1:46pm, weighed 6lbs 5oz and was 18 1/2" long. Kristy did a fantastic job and is doing well. The nurse said it went better than she could have hoped for. The labor and delivery both went very fast and the the babies came out perfectly healthy. Conley and Kristy look so cute with the babies and have not stopped smiling since they were born. We are so happy for this sweet little family!

First Day of School!

Today Katie and Allie had their first day of school. Katelyn started 3rd grade and Allison is now a 1st grader. Time is going by way to fast. I was a little sad to let them go but Kristy went into labor so I had no time to sit around and be sad. They had a great time, loved their teachers and made lots of new friends. Ryan was excited at first but kept wondering when they would be home. We are excited to see what the rest of the year has in store.

War Bonnet Rodeo

Every year our family has made it a tradition to go to the War Bonnet Roundup Rodeo. The girls look forward to dressing up like cowgirls, watching the cowboys and eating lots of junk food. I remember going to the rodeo with my grandfather every year when I was young. He would buy me a caramel apple and cut it up with his pocket knife so I wouldn’t get sticky; this was of course before you could get sliced caramel apples. I loved listening to him teach me about the Rodeo. Ryan had a great time sitting on his daddy’s lap watching the “Horses Jump”. At the end of the Rodeo my mom picked up the kids and Jairo and I stayed and watched the Collin Raye Concert. We had a great time!
If you are wondering who the little fighting cowboys are, everyone else was too. These naughty little cowboys fought and rolled in the dirt throughout the whole rodeo. Security kept coming over and telling them to go sit with their parents but about 2 minutes later they would be back fighting. It was entertaining.

Pioneer Day

Last week our family enjoyed the Stake Pioneer Day Celebration. Our ward made a little covered wagon for the parade so the girls walked in the like little pioneer children and played pioneer games. Ryan had fun playing with Sandy’s little boy Luke. They are the best of friends (unless they are tired.) Even Kristy stopped in for some pioneer fun. She is expecting her twins in about 2 weeks. We had a good time and enjoyed celebrating Pioneer Day!
