Yesterday Ryan was watching TV and he saw that the Speed Racer movie was out on DVD and wanted it really bad. So Today Grandma Debbie took him out to buy it and ended up getting him a bunch of his favorite prizes. Among the loot was some race cars, a couple new tooth brushes, the speed racer movie and last but not least a "Superman costume". He kept wanting to put it on but we had to go to a football game so told him that he would have to wait until tomorrow...well just before bedtime he comes running out of my room yelling "Superman" and "Super Friends!" Jairo had helped him put the "get-up" on. He is so excited, I don't know if he will ever go to sleep now.

Best Friends
I love the way my girls are BEST FRIENDS! They have always been inseparable, but I worried that it would only be a matter of time before they would find their own friends. When thay have a play date they have always wanted to share friends…which has always touched my heart. This year when they finally got to be in the same school I wondered if they would be able to see each other and how they would interact. A about a week into school I noticed that when I drop them off at school that they usually hold hands while they are running to the doors and have since heard from some people at school that they see the girls hugging when they see each other at lunch recess. The other day my friend stopped by and saw them running across the yard holding hands when they got off the bus and said “they must be good friends”. This is what life is all about for me and I am so grateful to have kids that are each others best friends.
I snuck my camera to school the other day to capture their friendship with hopes that it will always last!
Neighborhood Party
On Saturday we had our annual Neighborhood Party. This year we hired Polynesian Dancers from Utah to come as our entertainment and had a Luau. We cooked a pig for dinner and had everyone bring a side dish. We were excited to have a great turn out. Our neighborhood is all 1+ acre lots with no fences and lots of kids so our kids were running around playing with all of their friends. When it came time for show to start I went looking for my kids figuring that all the girls were in our little playhouse like last year but, I could not find them. When I got back to my seat I noticed that they were snuggled up on the front row watching the performers. Near the end of the performance the host called 5 men to come up and dance with the hula ladies and I just knew that Jairo was going to get called and sure enough, he did. He was a very good sport and was “shaking it” pretty good! We all had a good laugh. During the show Ryan kept trying to talk in Tongan and was dancing very silly. The last performer was a 12 year old fire dancer. He was so good. Apparently he travels all over for competitions with his father and brothers. At the end all of the dancers sang I Am a Child of God in Tongan then had the audience join in English for the last verse. It was so neat. We had a great time and learned a lot about other cultures.

Family Reunion
This year our family reunion was at Downata Hot Springs. We had a great time visiting with our family. The kids had a blast at the swimming pool and Katie and Allie were brave enough to go down the "black hole" water slide. My parents rented a little cabin that had a little loft. The kids had so much fun playing up there with their cousins. My Aunt Kim was in charge of the reunion this year and she did a great job. On Saturday night we had a "Wild Weiner Contest". Everyone was suppose to bring a crazy or great tasting hot dog. I like to participate in this kind of thing but didn't have any special way to make a hot dog so I made a hot dog cake. It turned out really cute and I took 1st place. My Uncle Steve should have won because he brought all sorts of different kinds of hot dogs including one of the biggest "dogs" you have ever seen. My girls had fun decorating a pan of brownies that they made to look like a campfire cake. We had so much fun and enjoyed the time we had with our family. My Grandma and Grandpa Landon are so kind and we are grateful to be a part of their family.

My Mom
If you ever wanted to know why I hold my family in such a high esteem, jump over to my mom’s new blog and read “My New and Old Obsession.” I love my parents so much and I am grateful for their example of unconditional love. My parents spent our whole lives teaching their children that we were each others best friends and to this day there is nowhere I would rather be than “home” with my family. My own children look forward to Sundays at grandma’s house, laughing & playing with their cousins, telling Grandma and Grandpa about their week, talking and joking with my brothers and sisters. There is never enough time or hugs before we have to go. I love my family so dearly. Thanks Mom and Dad, I love you more than words can express.
The Zoo.
Every year we go to Tauphus Park for Jairo's company party. HK provides a catered lunch, snow cones, cotton candy, and gives us tickets for the Zoo and Amusement Park. The kids really enjoy going to the zoo with their dad. The girls love to ride the octopus with Jairo. Allie usually gets a little scared but, this year she was very brave. Ryan thought he was too big for the little rides and wanted to ride the Octopus and Ferris Wheel the whole time. When he would get in the Octopus line I would have to tell him that he was not tall enough but, he kept on trying. We had a great time and look forward to next year!
